Large scale model trains

Large scale model trains are those that run on #1 gauge (45 mm) track. The actual scale can vary from 1:13.5 for trains that represent 2′ gauge prototypes to 1:32 for those that represent standard gauge prototypes.

Very large scale trains run on larger track. Moving up the scale is the recently defunct LGB company. The engineers made model rolling stock in a wide variety of scales from 1:27 to 1:22.5. This scale is supported by museum-quality technology and rolling stock in both electric, silicon and live-steam.

An ever-growing following uses this scale to replicate the standard gauge, resulting in very large models indeed!
